De-gendering STEM through STE(A)M and
creative thinking in secondary education

“We especially need imagination in science. It is not all mathematics, nor all logic, but it is somewhat beauty and poetry.”

Maria Mitchell, Astronomer

FullSteamAhead project team welcomes you in the project that combines degendered teaching approaches with cross calicular methodology in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) secondary school education.

Research shows that girls gradually lose interest in STEM at the age of 12-15 and beyond while this gendered pattern extends into tertiary education and career choices. For that reason, our main goal is to support teachers in motivating young girls towards science through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, Mathematics) by combining science with humanistic subjects within practical and innovative educational methods.

Project also aims to minimize gender stereotypes by offering the tools and activities for students’ development of critical and creative thinking, self-awareness and character-building skills.

We invite you to explore our website where science and the humanities meet to nurture natural curiosity for boys and girls alike!
